Man fatally shot in head in early February IDd

The man who died after being shot in the head just west of Spring Valley High School early Feb. 4 has been identified by the county coroner’s office, and police said the man wanted in connection to the shooting is still on the loose.

Zhihao Li, 40, died at University Medical Center after being shot in the head at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 4 while inside a home at 7483 Nookfield Drive, near Buffalo Drive and Flamingo Road, Metro officer Laura Meltzer said Monday. The coroner ruled his death a homicide.

Police said the shooting happened after a shouting match between Li and two other men. At one point, one man fired at both Li and the other man, killing Li and missing the other.

The day after Li died, police announced an arrest warrant on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder for Fuyan Liao, who is still wanted in connection to the shooting.

Liao, 56, was described as an Asian male who is 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighs 152 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police said he also goes by different aliases, adding that he left the west valley home after the shooting in a white 2009 Infiniti SUV with Nevada plates 712ATZ.

Li’s death was Metro’s 14th homicide this year. As of Monday afternoon Metro has seen 28 this year.
