Man in critical condition after being hit by taxi

A pedestrian was in critical condition after being struck by a Checker Cab early Monday morning, according to police.

The crash happened about 1:50 a.m. near the intersection of Boulder Highway and Russell Road.

The pedestrian, 22-year-old Oscar Camara-Castillo, was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by Dennis Johnson’s northbound cab, a 2013 Toyota Scion XB, according to a Metro news release.

Camara-Castillo was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center Trauma, Metro Lt. Roger Price said.

Johnson, 60, had minor injuries, the release said.

Police are still investigating the crash. The driver remained stayed on scene.
