Man jumps from Venetian pedestrian bridge

A man armed with razor blades jumped from the pedestrian bridge at the Venetian on Las Vegas Boulevard Saturday night, police say.

No one was allowed in or out of the casino, 3355 Las Vegas Blvd. South, from its Strip entrance for over two hours, while police attempted to talk to the man, who police described as "suicidal."

Reports that the man was hanging over the bridge came in about 9:20 p.m.

While police were talking to him, "he began to cut himself and jumped off the bridge," Metro Lt. Tom Melton wrote in a text message to the Review-Journal.

He was taken to an area hospital with unknown injuries, Melton said. After undergoing surgery, he is in stable condition.
