Man killed after pickup-fire engine crashed ID’d
A 28-year-old man killed Sunday after a pickup collided with a Las Vegas fire engine has been identified.
He is Sergio Rodriguez-Trujil, of Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner’s office said Monday. His official cause of death is multiple blunt force trauma injuries from a motor-vehicle collision.
Rodriguez-Trujil was driving a 2002 Chevrolet truck that hit the rear of a fire engine at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Sandhill Road about 11:30 p.m., according to Las Vegas police.
The fire engine was making a right turn from southbound Boulder to southbound Sandhill while responding to a fire with the emergency lights and sirens activated, police said.
Rodriguez-Trujil was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center where he died.
No firefighters were injured.
