Man killed in accident on Alta Drive identified

The driver of the Ford Mustang that crashed and killed his passenger Thursday morning admitted he had been drinking earlier and failed a breathalyzer test at the scene of the accident, according to his arrest report.

Ralph Homer Corpuz, 21, is in Clark County jail on charges of driving under the influence resulting in a death.

The Clark County coroner identified Corpuz's passenger Friday as 19-year-old Leo Bernard Roybal, of Las Vegas.

According to Las Vegas police, Corpuz was driving west on Alta Drive near Pavilion Center Drive at about 3:20 a.m. when he lost control of the car, which struck a tree while crossing the center median and continued into the eastbound lane.

When police arrived at the scene, Roybal was unresponsive, pinned inside the car in the front passenger seat. After being extracted from the car, he was taken to University Medical Center where he died.
