Man killed in east valley shooting Sunday identified

The man killed in an east valley shooting Sunday afternoon has been identified.

He is Aaron Andrew Martinez, 20, of Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner’s office said Monday.

Martinez died from a gunshot wound to the chest about 12:45 p.m. in the 3400 block of Olive Street, just southwest of where Charleston Boulevard meets U.S. Highway 95. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man was shot in the leg, police said, and was taken to University Medical Center. That wound was not considered life-threatening.

Metro’s preliminary investigation indicates the two men were walking on the sidewalk, when two males in a dark metallic blue, small SUV approached them, a police department release said.

The front passenger of the vehicle fired multiple rounds, striking the men. The vehicle took off before police got there.

No suspects have been identified and a motive is unknown, police said.

This is the 49th homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2015.
