The 71-year-old man who died Tuesday after crashing into the trailer of a semitruck in the southwest valley has been identified.
He is Mike Shawa of Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner’s office said Wednesday. Las Vegas police believe Shawa had a medical episode prior to the crash.
Shawa, who was driving a GMC Sierra, was southbound on Rainbow Boulevard near Flamingo Road about 8:15 a.m. when he sideswiped a Toyota Prius. He then ran into the back of the trailer towed by a Sterling-Acterra semitruck.
He was taken to Spring Valley Hospital where he died.
