Man killed, North Las Vegas officers in shootout ID’d

Two North Las Vegas police officers wounded in a shootout Tuesday that left a third man dead have been identified.

Officers Jason Scarale and Drew Albers both were treated and released for minor gunshot wounds, the North Las Vegas Police Department said Friday.

Donaven Kyle Anderson, 26, of North Las Vegas, was the man killed, according to the Clark County coroner's office.

Police said the incident began just after 5 p.m. Tuesday as a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Spur Ranch Avenue, near the intersection of Alexander Road and Commerce Street.

Anderson was threatening others in the home with a shotgun. After the SWAT team arrived, Anderson came out, "presented" the shotgun and "there was an exchange of gunfire," police said.

Multiple officers fired at Anderson.

Scarale has been with the department for 16 years and Albers for 10. Both remain on paid leave, routine in officer involved shootings.

This was the second officer-involved shooting for North Las Vegas police this year. Salvador Figueroa, 29, was shot and killed after a foot chase near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Owens Street.
