One man was shot in the arm and the shooter remains at large after an early Friday morning shooting at an abandoned hotel in downtown Las Vegas, according to Las Vegas police.
Police said a unit was en route to jail about 4:37 a.m. when it was flagged down by a man waving his arms near 233 South Sixth Street, near Garces Avenue.
The man stated that he had been staying at the El Cid Hotel, that has been closed for at least five years, with a woman and had left for a few days, police said. When he came back to the hotel, he was confronted by another man who shot him in the arm during an altercation.
Police searched the building for the shooter and the woman, but were not able to locate them. A description of the two was not immediately available. It is unknown whether they left together or separately.
The man who was shot in the arm was taken to University Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police blocked traffic downtown for a few hours to try and locate the shooter.
