Man struck and killed on Interstate 15

A man died early Wednesday morning after he walked onto northbound Interstate 15 near Spring Mountain Road and was struck by a car, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

About 4:20 a.m., a white Toyota Tundra pickup truck was headed north on the freeway in the middle lane when he hit the man, NHP said.

The front of the truck struck the pedestrian and continued north onto a paved shoulder. The man was thrown back into traffic where NHP said an unknown number of unidentified vehicles struck the man again.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was uninjured.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release man’s identity once his next of kin has been notified.

The freeway was shut down between Spring Mountain and Sahara Avenue for about four hours.

This is NHP’s 51st fatal investigation of 2014.
