Men killed in Sunday night crash identified

The two people who died in a Sunday night north valley crash have been identified by the Clark County coroner‘s office.

They are 52-year-old John Kirk Rodda and 34-year-old Sharrod Elmer Hightower, Jr., both of North Las Vegas, staff said Monday morning.

The five-vehicle crash happened just before 9 p.m. on North Lamb Boulevard near Interstate 15, and left two others hospitalized.

A man traveling on Lamb in a Toyota pickup hit three other vehicles at the intersection with the freeway, the initial investigation showed. He may have run a red light and he may have been driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Loy Hixson told the Review-Journal Sunday night.

That man was taken to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, Hixson said.

A woman driving a Chevy Tahoe involved in the crash was also taken to UMC with serious injuries.

The people in the fifth vehicle involved stayed on the scene. That vehicle was hit by debris from the crash, Hixson said.
