Metro now accepting online crime reports

Las Vegas police now accept some non-emergency crime reports online, the department announced Monday.

Filing electronic reports means people won’t have to wait for an officer to respond or call them back, Metro said in a news release. A temporary report can be printed when its submitted.

The service is “expected to be very popular among citizens who have come to expect police services to be provided immediately and conveniently online,” police said.

Online reports will be made available for harassment, forgery, credit card fraud, grand larceny less than $3,500, destruction of property between $250 and $2,500, theft less than $650, vehicle damage between $250 and $2,500 and items and accessories stolen from a vehicle.

To use the digital system, go to www.lvmpd.com and click on “File A Police Report.” From there users will see the option to file the report, followed by a series of questions.

After the report is submitted, it will be reviewed by police and, once approved, the person filing the report will receive an email with the attached report.

For emergencies, you should still call 911.
