Minor street flooding reported in northwestern Las Vegas
July 14, 2012 - 8:09 pm
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the northwestern part of the Las Vegas valley for Saturday night.
Flooding was reported on several streets in the Centennial Hills area. The intersection of Buffalo and Grand Teton drives was flooded with about 10 cars stalled, according to Tim Szymanski of the Las Vegas Fire Department. There were no injuries and no rescues needed, he said.
Heavy rains from a thunderstorm in the area triggered the warning, which it expects will mainly affect rural parts of the county.
The warning is in effect until 10:45 p.m. Earlier Saturday, the weather service issued a flood watch for much of the valley due to forecasts of rain.
