Miss America odds favor Miss South Carolina
Miss South Carolina is the favorite to be crowned Miss America tonight at Planet Hollywood, according to a Las Vegas oddsmaker.
It's not legal in Nevada to bet on the Miss America pageant. But Johnny Avello, director of race and sports operations for Wynn and Encore, posted odds for entertainment purposes only.
Ali Rogers of Lauren, S.C., is the favorite at 8-to-1, according to Avello.
Her leading competition figures to come from Miss Oklahoma (Alicia Clifton, 10-1), Miss Wyoming (Lexie Madden, 12-1), Miss Kentucky (Jessica Casebolt, 13-1) and Miss Minnesota (Siri Freeh, 15-1), Miss Missouri (Tippe Emmott, 16-1), Miss Kansas (Sloane Lewis, 18-1) Miss Maryland (Joanna Guy, 20-1), Miss Florida (Laura McKeeman, 22-1) and Miss Arkansas (Sloane Roberts, 24-1).
Miss Nevada, Randi Sunquist of Elko, is listed at 75-1 to wear the crown.
Contestants from South Dakota, Connecticut and Indiana face the longest odds at 85-1.
The 92nd Miss America competition starts at 6 p.m. at Planet Hollywood Live.
It will be televised live for the East Coast and can be seen tape delayed locally at 9 p.m. on KTNV-TV, Channel 13.
