A man in a wheelchair was rescued from a house fire Tuesday morning by a neighbor and a North Las Vegas police officer.
Authorities said the rescue happened after an electrical fire started at a home about 3:40 a.m. at 6021 Star Point Court, near Tropical Parkway and Bruce Street.
A woman was alerted to the blaze by a smoke alarm, said North Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman Capt. Cedric Williams.
The woman was unable to get her husband out of the home until a neighbor and a police sergeant arrived to help, Williams said. The home was engulfed with flames when firefighters arrived three minutes after receiving the call.
"Had it not been for them, we probably wouldn't have as good an outcome," he said.
Williams said the man was treated for minor smoke inhalation at the scene.
The home was completely destroyed. A damage estimate was not available.
