NHP: Woman killed in Nye County crash with semi
A woman died Tuesday after a sedan collided with a tractor-trailer crash in Nye County, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.
It happened just before 6 a.m. near mile marker 88 on U.S. Highway 95, about 20 miles south of Scotty’s Junction, NHP said Wednesday. A green 1999 Chevrolet Malibu was heading south when it crossed the center line and struck a northbound green 2007 Volvo semi. The Malibu spun across the southbound lane into the shoulder on the west side of the highway.
The trucker driver hit the breaks and steered to the right onto the shoulder on the east side of the road, NHP said.
The Malibu driver, a 43-year-old woman from California, was pronounced dead at scene by a Nye County sheriff’s deputy, NHP said.
This is NHP’s 55th fatal crash investigation of 2014.
