North Las Vegas police targeting crosswalk safety
December 15, 2011 - 4:39 pm
Police in North Las Vegas will target drivers who don't yield to pedestrians in crosswalks on Friday.
The city's Police Department will conduct a "pedestrian safety event" targeting busy mid-block crosswalks from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Police also will focus on drivers who pass vehicles that are stopped for pedestrians and pedestrians who fail to use a crosswalk to safely cross the street.
City officials announced Monday they were filing charges against a 78-year-old woman whose car struck and killed a 6-year-old girl and injured two others in a crosswalk in October.
