North Las Vegas postpones ordinance vote

North Las Vegas City Council members postponed voting on an ordinance to address blight of foreclosed properties Wednesday night.

The ordinance was introduced because of concerns about banks not maintaining vacant properties in foreclosure. People fear the houses will depress property values by marring the appearance of neighborhoods, city building official Gregory Blackburn has said.

Mayor Shari Buck requested the vote be tabled for two weeks. An interested party wants to meet with the council before the ordinance is adopted to make sure they are in compliance, Buck said.
