One injured after fight, stabbing in street near Thomas & Mack

A person was stabbed in the street near the Thomas & Mack Center late Thursday, police said.

Just before 8:30 p.m., someone called 911 to report a fight between two people in the middle of the street at the intersection of Swenson Street and Tropicana Avenue, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Rick Given said. The caller said one of them may have been hit by a car.

When police pulled up, officers realized the person in the street had a stab wound, Given said. The extent of injuries wasn’t immediately available but the person was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.

No suspects were in custody as of 9:30 p.m., Given said. It was unclear what led to the stabbing or why the two were in the street.
