Summerlin Half Marathon to benefit Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

This year, the Summerlin Half Marathon will benefit the Southern Nevada 0ffice of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. To help people train for the 13.1-mile event, Summerlin Half Marathon is hosting the Team In Training program.

Pink paper, fundraising event tout breast cancer awareness

For the fourth consecutive year, the Review-Journal printed its editions Wednesday on pink newsprint in recognition of October as breast cancer awareness month. The proceeds from retail sales, as well as the money raised at Wednesday’s Pink Paper Day Breakfast event, will go to Susan G. Komen of Southern Nevada and the American Cancer Society.

Maria Del Carmen Gomez, 53, was attacked March 21 outside a convenience store at Craig Road and North Fifth Street. Her former boyfriend, Armando Vergara-Martinez, faces charges of attempted murder and domestic violence.

The Rainbow Company Youth Theatre plans to present “Charlotte’s Web” Friday through Oct. 16 at the Charleston Heights Arts Center. The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art, 3800 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering free admission to visitors from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. The Atomic Testing Museum, 755 E.
