Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run Friday morning ID’d

The man who was killed in a hit and run early Friday morning in southwest Las Vegas has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office.

Edward Iantuono, 55, died from multiple blunt force injuries due to being struck by a vehicle, the coroner’s office said. His death was ruled an accident.

The collision occurred about 1:40 a.m. when a vehicle hit Iantuono as he was crossing Blue Diamond Road just east of Cimarron Road. The silver vehicle that hit him left the scene, Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jason Buratczuk said.

Iantuono was not in a marked crosswalk, he said.

Iantuono was found lying in the road by a Metro officer, who was responding to a call regarding the body, said Metro Lt. Rick Given. Iantuono was taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, San Martin Campus, where he was pronounced dead, Given said.

Buratczuk said a headlight lens found at the scene was used to determine that the vehicle was a silver 2005-2008 Jeep Cherokee, and that the driver’s headlight was damaged, he said.

Police are requesting the public’s help locating the vehicle. Anyone with information regarding this incident can call Crime Stoppers at 702-383-0381, or *NHP, Buratczuk said.
