Pedestrian killed in SUV hit and run

A 72-year-old female pedestrian was killed when hit by a white Ford Explorer on Nellis Boulevard just before 5:30 p.m. Friday, according to police.
The woman was walking outside of the marked crosswalk from east to west across Nellis Boulevard just north of Mojave Avenue. When she entered the outside, southbound lane, she was struck by the Ford's front end, according to a Metro release.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The Ford failed to remain at the scene or notify police of the collision, police said.
This is the 105th traffic related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction in 2015. The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
The woman will be identified by the Clark County coroner's office.
