Police talk man out of suicide attempt on U.S. 95 overpass
A man threatening to jump from an overpass snarled traffic on U.S. Highway 95 in the southeast valley for more than an hour Thursday before officers were able to dissuade him from committing suicide.
Las Vegas police said the man was threatening to jump off the freeway overpass onto Harmon Avenue shortly before 10:30 a.m.
Because of the situation, police shut down all northbound lanes.
Officers with the Crisis Intervention Team negotiated with the man. Police spokeswoman Laura Meltzer said the incident ended just after noon.
