Portions of southbound Interstate 15 closing for night construction this week

Sections of southbound Interstate 15 will be closed today through Thursday in a series of nighttime construction zones for the building of a street bridge, according to the city of North Las Vegas.

Crews will be working on the North Fifth Street Bridge over the I-15. The construction will close down I-15 from Cheyenne Avenue to Lake Mead Boulevard on Monday and Tuesday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Drivers will take a detour exiting I-15 at Cheyenne Avenue, making a right to Losee Road, a left to Lake Mead Boulevard and another left onto southbound I-15 via the Lake Mead ramp.

Several southbound lanes of the same stretch will be closed Wednesday and Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The $30 million bridge is part of the city’s North Fifth Street Arterial Project and is expected to be completed this spring.

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada is funding the project.
