REGISTRATION FOR YOUTH WRESTLING SCHEDULED AT SPRING VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL

Youth wrestling for grades third through eighth is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 29, 30 and Nov. 1 in the wrestling room at Spring Valley High School, 3750 S. Buffalo Drive. Registration is $90.

Practices are scheduled at 6 p.m. Nov. 1, and practices will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

RUNNERS INVITED TO RUN FOR A CAUSE

The MS Run the US 2013 Relay, which is slated for April 16 through Sept. 17, 2013, and will be divided into 22 segments, is seeking 14 running partners to take part in each leg of this coast-to-coast run. Each segment covers approximately 140 miles of running over six days. All proceeds raised will support multiple sclerosis research.

The relay is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in mid-April and wrap up in New York City five months later. In between, participants will take on a 140-mile leg of the cross-country journey, where they will run approximately 20 to 30 miles daily over five to six days. Only 14 slots are available. RED ROCK GOLF CLASSIC TO RAISE FUNDS FOR OPERATION HOMEFRONT NEVADA

The Red Rock Golf Classic is planned for a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Red Rock Country Club, 2205 Red Springs Drive. Proceeds are to benefit Operation Homefront Nevada. ADAPTIVE CYCLE CLUB PLANNED

FAMILY SWIM DAY SCHEDULED

A "Souper" Family Swim Day is planned from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Municipal Pool, 431 E. Bonanza Road.

MAYOR'S CUP SOCCER TOURNAMENT PLANNED THIS WEEKEND

Members of the public are invited to watch 336 youth soccer teams from 12 U.S. states, Russia, Mexico and Canada compete in the 13th annual Las Vegas Mayor's Cup International Soccer Tournament set for Friday through Sunday at: Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex, 7353 Eugene Ave.; Kellogg-Zaher Sports Complex, 7901 W. Washington Ave.; Ed Fountain Park, 1400 N. Decatur Blvd.; and Centennial Hills Park, 7101 N. Buffalo Drive. The event is co-hosted by the city of Las Vegas and the Downtown Las Vegas Soccer Club, 922 S. Valley View Blvd.

Teams of boys and girls ages 9 to 15 will compete from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday; from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Friday games will include primarily local teams. Admission is free to any game. Spectators should bring their own seating.

Members of first- and second-place teams will receive individual medals in each age division, and a trophy will be awarded to all first-place teams. Awards are planned from noon to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex. Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman is scheduled to attend the event at 4 p.m. Sunday to distribute awards, and Mayor Pro Tem Stavros S. Anthony is scheduled to attend and distribute awards at 1:30 p.m.

SPECIAL RECREATION PERMITS OFFER YEAR-ROUND FUN AT RED ROCK CANYON

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area announces the opening of several commercial year-round Special Recreation Permits (SRPs).

SRPs include at least two permits for off-highway vehicles, one for ongoing hiking, two for ongoing guided bicycling, one for ongoing guided equestrian and one for ongoing scooter/motorized bikes for Scenic Loop Drive.

Those interested in applying for the SRPs must submit a completed application package by Nov. 1 to the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office at HCR Box 5500, Las Vegas, NV 89161.

Applications will be rated and an applicant(s) chosen from the most qualified applicants. Notification of selected applicants will be made by January 2013.

CITY MAKES REGISTRATION FOR RECREATION PROGRAMS EASIER

The city of Las Vegas has launched its new online registration system, RecTrac, which offers customers an easy way to participate in recreation activities, city sports leagues and Safekey.

By visiting recreation.lasvegas nevada.gov, customers can browse listings as a guest or log on as a registered user to enroll in programs and activities offered by the city. Customers can also call 702-229-2330 or come into a recreation center to register and pay during normal business hours. Safekey payments can be made online, by phone at 702-229-3399 or at the Safekey main office, 1651 S. Buffalo Drive.

Programs and activities that require prerequisites or age verification may not be eligible for online registration.

Those who already have an account through the city's previous online registration system will need to use the phone number they gave when they opened the account for the user name. The password will be the primary account holder's last name. Those needing to open a new account should follow the instructions on the website.

GIRLS ON THE RUN OF LAS VEGAS SEEKS TEAM MEMBERS

Girls on the Run of Las Vegas is looking to start a team of girls in third through fifth grade in northwest Las Vegas and Summerlin. The group forwards a youth development program, where girls meet twice a week for discussions regarding empowerment, self-confidence and healthy living. The group incorporates stretching, games and running during that time. At the end of the 12-week program, the entire Las Vegas chapter gets together for a 5K race.

Between eight and 15 girls are needed to form a team.
