short-TRACK SERIES, motorcycle auction PLANNED AT THE SOUTH POINT

More than 150 motorcyclists from around the U.S. are set to compete during the Championship Indoor Concrete Short Track event Jan. 11 and 12 at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

The event will feature four classes of handlebar-to-handlebar races on a polished concrete track.

Gates are set to open at 6:30 p.m., with races scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $10 for those ages 6-16 and $20 for adults.

In conjunction with the event, fans will have the opportunity to bid during the 22nd annual Las Vegas Vintage Motorcycle Auction, set to kick off at 6 p.m. Jan. 10 and continue at 9 a.m. Jan. 11 and 12. Hundreds of motorcycles are set to be auctioned off during the event.

REGIONAL YOGA CHAMPIONSHIP SET

Bikram Yoga Summerlin, 7520 W. Washington Ave., plans to host the annual Nevada Regional Yoga Asana Championship Dec. 8 at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road.

Adult and youth competitors will be on stage demonstrating five compulsory yoga postures and two additional postures of their choice.

The event, being put on in association with the USA Yoga Federation, is one of many regional yoga competitions taking place throughout the United States to qualify competitors for the 2012-13 USA Yoga International Yoga Asana Championship scheduled for New York City on March 3 and 4.

Doors are set to open at noon, and the competition is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for those 16 or younger. The price includes raffle tickets for a variety of prizes. A portion of the proceeds will help winners pay expenses associated with competing at the international championship event.

CONTINENTAL TIRE LAS VEGAS tournament
PLANNED FOR DEC. 22 AND 23

The 12th annual Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic basketball tournament is set to return to The Orleans Arena, 4500 W. Tropicana Ave., Dec. 22 and 23.

The event will feature Virginia Tech, Bradley, Colorado State, Portland, Georgia Southern, Mississippi Valley State, North Florida and Cal State Bakersfield. Each team will play four games – the first two at campus sites and the final two at The Orleans Arena.

RESIDENTS INVITED TO RUN FOR A CAUSE

The MS Run the US 2013 Relay, slated for April 16 through Sept. 17, 2013, will be divided into 22 segments and is seeking 14 people to take part in each leg of this coast-to-coast run. Each segment covers about 140 miles over six days. All proceeds will support multiple sclerosis research.

The relay is scheduled to begin in Los Angeles in mid-April and wrap up in New York City five months later. In between, participants will take on a 140-mile leg of the cross-country journey, where they will run about 20 to 30 miles daily over five to six days. Only 14 slots are available.

Recruiting is set to continue through Dec. 31.

LEISURE CONNECTION SOCIAL GROUP OUTINGS PLANNED EACH MONTH

Leisure Connection for those 22 or older with developmental disabilities is a social group planned each month. The outings are geared to assist high-functioning adults with social skills and independence in the community. city makes REGISTRATION
for recreation programs easier

The city of Las Vegas has launched its new online registration system, RecTrac, which offers customers an easy way to participate in recreation activities, city sports leagues and Safekey.

By visiting recreation.lasvegas
nevada.gov, customers can browse listings as a guest or log on as a registered user to enroll in programs and activities offered by the city. Customers can also call 702-229-2330 or come into a recreation center to register and pay during normal business hours. Safekey payments can be made online, by phone at 702-229-3399 or at the Safekey main office, 1651 S. Buffalo Drive. The Safekey office is scheduled to move to 416 N. Seventh St. in early 2013.

Programs and activities that require prerequisites or age verification may not be eligible for online registration.

Those who already have an account through the city’s previous online registration system will need to use the phone number they gave when they opened the account for the user name. The password will be the primary account holder’s last name. Those needing to open a new account should follow the instructions on the website.

NEW A.G.E. EVENTS FOR THOSE
WITH DISABILITIES PLANNED

New A.G.E. for those 22 or older with developmental disabilities is set from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center, 6601 N. Buffalo Drive. The program offers a variety of activities and special events that promote individuality, self-esteem and independence. The cost is $21 for one to three days, $28 for four days and $35 for five days each week.

NORTH LAS VEGAS RECREATION DIVISION ANNOUNCES HEALTH CAMPAIGN

The North Las Vegas Recreation Division has announced its Get Moving! Get Healthy! campaign, which aims to encourage exercise and healthy social activities through the division’s programs and sports.

Each month, the recreation division will launch an online video highlighting a recreational, social or sports program offered at the Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane, or the Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St.

Featured first is the recreation division’s martial arts class offerings. The campaign also will highlight activities from its Social Seniors and after-school programs.

Wheelchair athletes open gym and wheelchair basketball practice for those ages 14 to adult is available from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at Fremont Middle School, 1100 E. QUAD RUGBY PRACTICE OFFERED WEEKLY

Quad rugby practice for players ages 14 to adult is available from

ADAPTIVE CYCLE CLUB PLANNED
IN DECEMBER

An adaptive cycle club is set to meet from 9 to 11 a.m or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 15 at W. Wayne Bunker Family Park, 7351 W. Alexander Road.

The cost is $2 per person.
