Scooter rider seriously hurt in Wednesday night crash

A scooter rider suffered substantial injuries after a crash with a vehicle Wednesday night in the west valley, Las Vegas police said.
Medics and police were called to the intersection of Fort Apache Road and Sahara Avenue about 7 p.m. after the collision, Metro Lt. Joel Martin said.
The male riding the scooter was taken to University Medical Center. He was expected to survive, Martin said.
Fort Apache Road was closed in both directions while traffic officers investigated the crash.
