Four adults and two small children were displaced and a dog died in a west valley house fire Sunday afternoon, according to the Las Vegas Fire Department.
A person also suffered minor injuries to a hand, and was treated and released at the scene, the Fire Department said. Two other dogs were able to escape.
Fire crews were called about 2:30 p.m. to a house on Crestline Drive, near the intersection of Alta and Torrey Pines drives.
They arrived to find flames coming from the front of the one-story house and smoke billowing from it, the Fire Department said. The blaze was put out in less than 10 minutes.
Neighbors alerted a woman about the fire and she was able to leave the house with the two children, the Fire Department said. Crews were able to save most of the belongings inside the house, which was not inhabitable after the blaze.
The exact cause of the fire, which was sparked in a front porch, hasn't been determined, but officials are looking into a smoking accident, the Fire Department said.
