Southern Nevada taxis report declines in ridership, revenue
Southern Nevada’s taxicab companies continued to report severe declines in ridership and revenue in November, according to figures released this week.
Nearly 1.39 million taxi trips were reported in November, a 13.4 percent drop from the same period in 2016, the Nevada Taxicab Authority reported.
The region’s 16 certified taxicab companies reported a combined $22.7 million in revenue last month, down 14.5 percent from November 2016.
Year-to-date, 18.76 million trips were reported during the first 11 months of 2017, a 13.42 percent decline from the same period last year, the Taxicab Authority reported. Through November, the cab companies reported a combined $303.7 million in revenue this year, down 13.5 percent from the first 11 months of 2016.
Taxicab Authority officials have previously attributed the declines to the increased use of ride-hailing companies among passengers.
