Las Vegas police released the names of two SWAT snipers who shot and killed a woman after an hourslong standoff Monday afternoon.
Officers Charles Moser and John Collingwood, both with Metro's Emergency Operations Bureau, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Section, have been placed on administrative leave. Moser, 46, has been with the department since 2000, and Collingwood, 33, joined in 2006.
Brenda Dean Kimberling, 48, was shot and killed after she aimed a shotgun at Metro officers outside her 4564 Aviation St. home, about a half mile from Nellis Air Force Base near the intersection of Craig Road and Nellis Boulevard. Before the shooting, police spent hours trying to negotiate with her.
Metro officers were involved in a second fatal shooting Monday night, and the department is expected to identify those officers Wednesday as well. The department's policy is to name the officers involved in a shooting after 48 hours.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
