Teen critical after hit by car in southwest was in marked crosswalk

A 15-year-old boy was critically injured after he was struck by a car while crossing the street Thursday evening in the southwest valley, according to a Las Vegas police news release.

A 2003 Ford Ranger, driven by 78-year-old Richard Kliese, was southbound on Jones Boulevard, north of Dewey Drive, near Russell Road, when he struck the 15-year-old crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.

The 15-year-old boy was taken to University Medical Center with critical injuries. Police did not report additional injuries on Kliese or his 76-year-old passenger. Kliese stayed at the scene did not show signs of impairment.

This incident remains under investigation.
