Three die in two accidents in Henderson

Three people were killed in two separate vehicle crashes on New Year's Eve in Henderson, authorities said.

About 10 a.m. Monday, a Toyota Camry traveling southbound on Boulder Highway in the northbound lane near Galleria Drive struck a Pontiac Grand Prix, Henderson police said.

The passengers of the Grand Prix, a man and a woman both in their 70s, were killed.

The second crash happened about
2 p.m. on Boulder Highway at Greenway Road. A Toyota Corolla entering Boulder Highway from a shopping center was struck by a Mitsubishi Eclipse.

A 92-year-old woman, a passenger in the Corolla, was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where she died from her injuries, police said.

The cause of the two crashes remain under investigation. It was unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors in the wrecks.

The names of the victims are expected to be released by the Clark County Coroner's office this week.

In 2012 Henderson saw 14 fatal crashes take the lives of 18 people.
