Trash can fire damages condominium building on Sunday

Clark County Fire Department responded to a trash can fire that set fire to a condominium building Sunday afternoon on King Richard Avenue near Swenson Street.

The trash can fire was reported about 4:20 p.m. The six-unit building caught fire as fire personnel arrived at the scene and the fire soon spread to the roof.

According to the fire department, the fire was extinguished in 10 minutes. Families were displaced from two units that had moderate damage as well as smoke and water damage. The American Red Cross was called to assist the families. No injuries were reported.

The fire caused an estimated $75,000 in damages and is under investigation.
