Two injured in Moapa crash, portion of I-15 South closed

A portion of southbound Interstate 15 is closed in Moapa and two people are being flown to a Las Vegas hospital after a rollover crash near mile marker 94, the Regional Transportation Commission announced.

Nevada Highway Patrol and Moapa fire crews were called about 5:45 p.m. to the wreck on the I-15, about 50 miles north of Las Vegas, according to the agency's traffic site.

A man and a child, whose ages were not available, were injured in the single-vehicle wreck and flown to University Medical Center in unknown condition, said NHP Trooper Loy Hixson.

Southbound traffic on I-15 is closed because of fuel on the road, Hixson said. Troopers are working to divert traffic onto the shoulder.

"Expect long delays," the RTC wrote in an email release.

Traffic is expected to re-open about 7:15 p.m., Hixson said.
