Two rob gaming area inside Smith’s grocery store

The gaming area of a grocery store was the target of an armed robbery early Wednesday morning near Charleston Boulevard and Hualapai Way, according to Las Vegas police.

Two people entered Smith’s, 9851 W. Charleston Boulevard, about 3 a.m. and forced the employees to lie on the ground at the front of the store. Police said both people were armed with handguns.

The slot machine clerk was robbed of between $250 and $500, police said. One employee had their wallet taken.

The robbers then fled the store on foot, running east through the parking lot.

No one was hurt.

The store was closed for about an hour while police investigated but later reopened for regular business.
