Uber court hearing moved to Monday

A court hearing regarding efforts to bar the ride-sharing company Uber from operating in Clark County has been moved to Monday.

In late October, District Judge Douglas Herndon denied a request for a temporary restraining order against the company. He said lawyers with the Nevada attorney general’s office had failed to show that Uber was causing irreparable harm.

The judge then scheduled a Nov. 14 hearing on the office’s motion for a preliminary injunction. Records show that the hearing has been rescheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday. It is expected to last all day.

After denying the request for a restraining order, Herndon said agents with the Nevada Taxicab Authority and the Nevada Transportation Authority could continue citing drivers they suspect are violating the law.

More than two dozen drivers have been cited for providing an unlicensed for-hire transportation service since the company began operating in Nevada on Oct. 24.
