Utah State Route 9 in Zion reopens after rockslide

Utah State Route 9 through Zion National Park reopened Saturday after a rockslide closed it earlier in the week.

The road, also known as Zion-Mount Carmel Highway, was closed Wednesday after two massive boulders — one that weighed 200 tons and another, 100 tons — fell off a mountainside.

Crews had to blast off part of a cliff to prevent more rocks from falling, the National Park Service said.
