Vegas begins spring fling by flirting with the 90s

It’s time to put away your snowboards and drag those dusty sandals out of storage — the weather is warming up this week.

Tuesday marked the warmest day so far of 2014, with the National Weather Service’s thermometer reading 88 degrees at its McCarran International Airport monitoring station.

No records were set, though. In 1989 it reached 98 degrees on April 8.

Temperatures should hit 90 degrees Wednesday and Thursday in the valley, and winds will accompany the warmth with 20 mph gusts.

If you’re really craving summer, you could head to Laughlin, where weather service meteorologist Jim Harrison said the temperature should reach 97 degrees Wednesday and 96 degrees Thursday.
