Volunteers to help with Project Homeless Connect

Hundreds of volunteers will team up with dozens of city, county and social service agencies Wednesday for the annual Project Homeless Connect, which aims to help the valley's homeless find housing, jobs and other services.

The event, in its 21st year, draws thousands of homeless people looking for help to Cashman Center, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North. It is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Attendees can get free food and clothing, haircuts, housing referrals, job-placement assistance, legal help, dental screenings and other services.

An estimated 9,432 people are homeless in the Las Vegas Valley on any given day, according to a large-scale homeless census conducted in January.

About 3,000 people attended last year's Project Homeless Connect, according to Clark County officials. For more information , visit HelpHopeHome.org.
