Williams Jr. tops qualifying in Chameleon Championship at PBA World Series of Bowling

Walter Ray Williams Jr. topped qualifying Monday in the Chameleon Championship, the third event of the PBA World Series of Bowling at South Point Bowling Center. Williams, 53, had a pinfall of 1,925 for eight games (240.63 average) to lead a field of 239, with the top 16 advancing to a six-game semifinal held late Monday.
Meanwhile, Brad Angelo of Lockport, N.Y., rolled a 279 final game late Sunday to top the semifinal round in the PBA Viper Championship. Angelo had a 14-game total of 3,344 and will be joined in Saturday's stepladder finals by Sean Rash of Montgomery, Ill., Mika Koivuniemi of Hartland, Mich., and Mike Fagan of Dallas.
