Windy forecast prompts dust advisory for Las Vegas Valley
The windy forecast for Monday afternoon and evening has prompted a dust advisory for the Las Vegas Valley.
Dust levels aren’t at an unhealthy level yet, the Clark County Department of Air Quality and Environmental Management said, but they could affect people with breathing problems. The dust count is expected to be at a moderate level as southwesterly winds continue to pick up into the afternoon and evening.
The Air Quality Department advises those with respiratory issues to stay indoors. The department also recommends driving slow on unpaved roads, riding off-road vehicles in approved areas outside the valley, fencing off or covering barren property, keeping windows closed and to consider changing indoor air filters if they are dirty.
After Monday, meteorologists predict low dust levels. Ozone levels are moderate and are expected to stay there through the weekend. The county issued a seasonal ozone advisory Wednesday for smoke and ground-level ozone gas.
