Witness critical after shootout with armed robber
A man is in critical condition after he confronted an armed robber at a North Las Vegas convenience store Tuesday night, police said.
After watching a man rob the Green Valley Grocery at 3815 East Craig Road, near Pecos Road, the other man decided to get involved, North Las Vegas police officer Steven Wiese said Wednesday.
The robber and the witness shot at each other outside of the store about 10 p.m.
The witness was taken to University Medical Center, where he remained in critical condition Wednesday night. The robber got away, Wiese said, and his description was not available.
"That's not something we're ever going to suggest," Wiese said of confronting a criminal with a weapon, because police officers have training that everyday citizens don't.
Instead, he said, call 911.
"We ask that you be a good witness."
