Woman dies after being hit by car in south valley

A 65-year-old woman died after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in the south valley, Las Vegas police said.
The crash happened just after noon near the intersection of Wigwam Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard South.
Evidence at the scene and surveillance video footage indicate the woman was crossing Wigwam about 380 feet from the nearest crosswalk when she was was struck by a 2012 Honda Civic traveling west, police said.
Police said the woman was taken to University Medical Center’s trauma unit in critical condition and died there about an hour later.
The 29-year-old driver of the Honda stayed at the scene and passed a field sobriety test, police wrote in a release.
This was the 45th traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
