Woman dies in early morning single-vehicle accident

A woman died early Sunday morning after the truck she was driving left the roadway and struck multiple objects.

At approximately 2:52 a.m., a 34-year-old woman was heading north on Mountain Vista Street in a 2004 GMC Yukon. Police said that the woman hit the east curb and drove up onto the sidewalk around Carol Circle, near Russell Road.

The truck swerved back onto the roadway, hit the center median and entered the lanes with traffic going in the opposite direction.

The woman then drove off the west side of Mountain Vista, struck a light pole, a water main box and a block wall at a home on Carol Circle. The truck rolled onto its right side, and the woman was partially ejected. She was not wearing a seatbelt.

The woman died on the scene. Her identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office once her family has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation by Metro’s accident investigation section. Police did not point to any possible causes for the crash.

This is the 43rd traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police’s jurisdiction in 2014.
