Woman hit by car on Rainbow has died

A woman who was struck by a car Wednesday morning in the southwest valley has died, according to Las Vegas police.

Joan Freeman, 81, was crossing Rainbow Boulevard north of Twain Avenue and outside a crosswalk at 6:07 a.m. when she was hit by a 2003 Mercedes-Benz headed north on Rainbow.

Freeman was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

The Clark County coroner’s office told Metro that the woman was pronounced dead at 1:10 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the police department.

The 36-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz was not injured in the crash.
