Two men were arrested Saturday after they broke into the home of an elderly Pahrump couple and robbed them and their disabled adult daughter at knife point, according to the Nye County sheriff’s office.
Nye County deputies and detectives responded to the home Saturday morning and learned from one of the residents that two men had entered the family’s home about 1:30 a.m. and held the 80-year-old man, his 75-year-old wife and their 49-year-old disabled daughter at knife point while collecting their cash, valuables and collectibles, the sheriff’s office wrote in a release Sunday.
The two robbers found the three residents asleep and one of them forced the 80-year-old man from one room to another to open a safe holding cash and valuables, the release said. Meanwhile, the second robber held the man’s wife and daughter at knife point, at one point injuring the disabled daughter when she tried to get off of the bed.
The robbers tied the three residents up before fleeing the home, the release said.
Saturday afternoon, Nye County deputies stopped a suspicious vehicle in Beatty. The car was occupied by Carl Fort, 22, and Shaun Neubert, 20, both of Pahrump.
Deputies found a large amount of reported stolen items and cash from the Pahrump family’s residence and a small amount of marijuana, the release said.
During questioning, Neubert admitted to being one of the robbers and told detectives that Fort was his partner. He also identified a third man, 40-year-old William Jones, as the getaway driver after the robbery, the release said.
Fort and Neubert were booked into Nye County Detention Center in Pahrump on multiple charges including conspiracy to commit home invasion, burglary and robbery, robbery with a deadly weapon on an older or vulnerable person, assault with a deadly weapon on an older or vulnerable person, grand larceny and false imprisonment, the release said. Neubert also faces a battery charge.
Fort’s bail is set at $112,500. Neubert’s bail is set at $67,000.
Nye County authorities are still looking for Jones.
