Alcohol blamed in 29-year-old man’s drowning at Lake Havasu

Investigators think alcohol played a role in an apparent drowning at Lake Havasu, Ariz., on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office identified the victim as Christopher John Tank, 29.

Tank disappeared under the water while he and his girlfriend were trying to swim from some buoys back to shore in the area of Thompson Bay, sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter said.

Good Samaritans who found Tank in about seven feet of water moved him to State Beach, where he was given CPR, Carter said.

She said Tank was pronounced dead at Havasu Regional Medical Center.
