Amber Alert issued for missing California 2-year-old

An Amber Alert is in place for a 2-year-old boy from Los Angeles, Calif., according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The highway patrol said the boy’s father took him by force just before 7 a.m.

According to National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the missing boy’s name is Edwin Vargas and the father is Abraham Vargas, 27.

Authorities were initially looking for an orange 2004 Nissan Quest with California license plate 7CIN189, but Nevada Highway Patrol said the car was empty when it was found in Los Angeles at 12:21 p.m.

It was first thought that the suspect was headed to Tijuana, Mexico, but since he has not been located, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Jeremie Elliott said, a drive through Nevada is not disregarded.
