Bullhead City sergeant arrested on sexual assault charges

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Bullhead City police sergeant was arrested Monday following his indictment last week in an October sexual assault of a college student.

Jesse Hoag, 37, was placed on paid administrative leave after a female college student alleged he raped her in Bullhead City after they left a Laughlin, Nev., bar together early the morning of Oct. 3.

Hoag was arrested Oct. 22 in Laughlin and also is accused of trying to force himself on another woman he met in a Laughlin bar. Las Vegas police said that woman escaped, reported the incident and that Hoag was arrested and charged with attempted sexual assault.

The Arizona college student told investigators that Hoag taught classes at Mohave Community College and that she sought his help in preparation for testing to become a police officer. The woman said she initially consented to sexual relations but told Hoag to stop, who didn’t, according to court records.

Hoag faces an initial court appearance in Kingman on Tuesday before Mohave County Superior Court Judge Derk Carlisle.
