No cause found for death of woman in Nye County desert

PAHRUMP — Medical examiners in Las Vegas couldn’t determine what killed a 27-year-old California woman whose body was found in the desert near Pahrump in September.

The Clark County coroner’s office said Monday the cause and manner of Margay Kim Edwards’ death remained undetermined.

Edwards was from Los Osos, California. Her body was found Sept. 25 by all-terrain vehicle riders near a dirt trail outside the Nye County community of Pahrump.

Her rental car was found nine days later, stuck in a ravine with a flat tire and bumper damage. Two cellphones and a computer were found inside.

Investigators said Edwards last contacted her family in mid-September.

Nye County sheriff’s Detective Joe McGill said Monday that foul play remains a possibility, but that investigators are leaning away from Edwards’ death being a homicide.
